Everyone deserves a clear direction forward.
Psychological testing in Redding, California
At TrueNorth Assessments, my goal is to help you make sense of your brain’s strengths and challenges so you can move ahead with clarity, confidence, and the right supports. I offer practical, individualized feedback with next steps based on current research, rather than just a report with numbers on a page.
TrueNorth is a neurodiversity-affirming psychological testing practice. I respect individual differences and focus on understanding each person’s unique way of navigating the world. My approach is collaborative, transparent, and strengths-based.
Meet Dr. Bailey
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who graduated from Rosemead School of Psychology. With over 15 years of experience, I have focused my career on psychological testing and training in diverse community settings. I previously served as Training Director for an APA-accredited doctoral internship program before relocating to Redding to work as a regional center staff psychologist. Today, I provide assessments for neurodiverse children, adolescents, and adults, with a focus on developmental disabilities. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking and camping.
Psychological testing for children, adolescents, and adults.
Cognitive Assessments
Identify brain strengths and challenges, including giftedness or intellectual disability.
Autism Evaluations
Clarify social, communication, and behavioral patterns related to autism.
ADHD Assessments
Assess attention, concentration, and executive functioning (things like planning, organizing, and starting tasks).
What to Expect
-
Most testing sessions last 3 to 4 hours, so you’re encouraged to bring snacks and a drink. For children, bringing a favorite activity or comfort item can also help during the interview.
-
We’ll begin by talking through background history — such as family, medical, school, and work (for adults) — to get a clear picture of what’s going on. For children, this usually includes both the parent/caregiver and child together at the start.
-
Next, I will meet individually with you (or your child) to complete standardized assessments. Depending on the questions you’d like answered, testing may include measures of:
Cognitive ability (intellectual disability, giftedness)
Autism-related differences
Attention and executive functioning (ADHD)
Questionnaires may also be given to you or your child, and sometimes to someone else who knows you or your child well with your permission.
-
Often, more information is helpful — such as reviewing records, talking with someone who knows you/your child, or conducting an observation. If that’s the case, we’ll discuss it together.
-
After the in-person appointment, I’ll write a comprehensive report that explains the results in clear, understandable language.
-
Finally, we’ll schedule a feedback session. I will review the results with you, explain any diagnoses if appropriate, and most importantly, provide clear recommendations and resources. The goal is for you to leave with practical insights and a written report that helps guide next steps. (Please note, for individuals referred by Far Northern Regional Center, you will receive your report from them after their team has had a chance to review it.)

Not much! It can be helpful to jot down things you’ve noticed about yourself or your child that you’ve wondered about. Gathering medical and school records for review is also helpful. The most important thing is to simply come as your authentic self.
-
The cost of testing depends on the specific questions we’re working to answer together. Most assessments take between 8 to 12 hours, billed at $300/hour. The time includes an interview, administration of assessments, report writing, and feedback. During a brief consultation, I’ll provide a personalized cost estimate so you know what to expect.

While TrueNorth is not an in-network provider with insurance, clients may be able to get partial reimbursement using a superbill (an itemized receipt). Payment is required at the time of the appointment, and any reimbursement would be handled directly with your insurance provider.
Some helpful questions to ask your insurance company:
What are my out-of-network benefits for psychological testing?
What percentage of the cost is covered for out-of-network providers and at what rate?
What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much has been met?
Is preauthorization required for psychological testing?
How do I submit an out-of-network claim?
